Walking with Water Ghost

Walk I : when aquifers fill pipes and rivers become lake

The Walking with Water Ghost project invites visitors to (follow) mining areas of thee Rhenisch mining area on two walks. Pumped out, piped, and diverted for decades, it now plays a central role in shaping debates about the region’s future.

The Walks evoke the figure of the water ghost – a narrative figure who traces the changing landscape and human-water relationships. Water ghost recall vanished springs and diverted streams, tell of ecological intervention, hydrolosocial disruptions, and more-than-human resilience – while simultaneous offering glimpses into possible future.

Throught artistic interventions – performances, mapping and sound explorations – new perpectives emerge on oour relationship with water and its political, ecological, and cultural impact.
